We Have Good Reason For Humility

Just a few days ago was Carl Sagan day, but I forgot to post something remembering him.  He’s a hero of mine, along with Richard Feynman and Richard Dawkins.  They taught me to think critically and introduced me to many scientific ideas which have profoundly changed how I view the world. With these changes came humility. I realized how little I actually knew about the world, and how much I still have to learn.

One Response to We Have Good Reason For Humility

  1. Erwin Moller says:

Carl Sagan did the same to me.

Educators will tell you how things work.

Better educators will make sure the audience feels part of the subject at hand.

And then comes Sagan: He also gives you the feeling YOU can add something to improve understanding of the subject. He and his works always gave me the feeling being part of something big. And that is something religion never managed to do for me.

It is great to see you name Richard Feynman and Richard Dawkins too.
Add Hofstadter and Dennett, and you have my top 5 of heroes. 🙂

Keep up the good newsletter, Jason.
