Back in 1945, thirteen leather-bound papyrus codices were found bundled up in a sealed jar by a group of farmers who were digging deep within a cave in the Egyptian town of Nag Hammadi. These texts are quite fascinating, especially the Gospel accounts which you’ve likely never read or even heard about. These texts are filled with quotations and stories about Jesus and his disciples that are quite different from the ones you’ve read about in the Bible. Though this “different” Jesus shares a lot of similarities with accounts from the Bible, in many core fundamental ways he is a totally different person. So how are they different?
Let’s take a look at some of the verses found in the Gospel of Thomas.
14. Jesus said to them, “If you fast, you will bring sin upon yourselves, and if you pray, you will be condemned, and if you give to charity, you will harm your spirits.”
This Jesus is against prayer and fasting. Don’t cry out to some external God for miracles or for help. He teaches to tap into the divine energy within you and manifest your needs and desires as a child of the divine Father. Being committed to this line of thinking, he feels charity is dangerous. It’s not that it’s evil per say, and he doesn’t teach to ignore the suffering of others, but he’s giving a stark warning that when you give to others in need, it can limit the power they have within them to change their situation. They can easily become dependent on you and they are held back, harming their spirit, never learning their own power. He teaches that people live in poverty because they are poverty.
Jesus said, “If your leaders say to you, ‘Look, the (Father’s) kingdom is in the sky,’ then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, ‘It is in the sea,’ then the fish will precede you. Rather, the (Father’s) kingdom is within you and it is outside you. When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will understand that you are children of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you live in poverty, and you are the poverty.”
This Jesus teaches that you should never do anything you hate. Not a single thing. If you dislike doing it, don’t do it. It’s beneath you as a child of the divine Father. Don’t sit around begging for things, suffering for no reason; leave this place. Don’t feel you need to save this world, or help “fix” things. Once the divine children leave this place, the Father plans to burn this entire universe to the ground. He teaches for you to enter the divine Light, refuse to take on a physical form, and enter the perfected realms of the infinite Father. Nobody has to suffer in any way. All you have to do is leave the physical realm and enter the realms the Father intended for us to live in; there is no suffering there. These scriptures teach that this reality is a botched mistake that shouldn’t exist. He teaches that there are no worthwhile lessons to learn through suffering. It’s not the way the Father’s kingdom operates, and we are in a messed up reality that is not operating according to the divine kingdom’s principles. He wants us out of here, but it’s our choice whether or not we remain in physicality. Also, in the higher realms your thoughts and emotions will be known to all, so there’s no reason to pretend. You don’t have to pretend to love things you don’t love, or strive for some “holiness” through sacrifice. There is no sacrifice, because if you realize the true power within, you have access to all things. The same goes for everyone else. There’s no reason for you or anyone else to go without anything you desire. The same goes for food. Eat anything you want. As a divine child of the Father, if you eat an animal and it becomes you, lucky for it! Now it too has become divine, just as you are.
6. His disciples asked him and said to him, “Do you want us to fast? How should we pray? Should we give to charity? What diet should we observe?” Jesus said, “Don’t lie, and don’t do what you hate, because all things are disclosed before heaven. After all, there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and there is nothing covered up that will remain undisclosed.” 7. Jesus said, “Lucky is the lion that the human will eat, so that the lion becomes human. And foul is the human that the lion will eat, and the lion still will become human.”
This Jesus was not the prince of peace. He declared that this world was run by deceptive spirits and created by mistake, and shouldn’t exist. He was at war against it, and wanted all divine beings to awaken to who they are and return to the Light of the divine Father, where they can live in perfection, be at rest, and have all they desire. He taught that it was so important to connect to this inner light within you and return to the Father, that you must even forsake your own family if they are holding you back. That’s because if you have all things within you, do you really lose your family? No. You don’t ever lose anything.
16. Jesus said, “Perhaps people think that I have come to cast peace upon the world. They do not know that I have come to cast conflicts upon the earth: fire, sword, war. For there will be five in a house: there’ll be three against two and two against three, father against son and son against father, and they will stand alone.”
This Jesus never died on a cross and never spoke of blood sacrifice. He’s against sacrifice altogether. He declared there are children of the Light, true sons and daughters of the divine Light, and some of them had descended into this deceptive world and forgotten who they are. He came to deliver those people from suffering and help them return. He is always saying things like, “To him who has ears let them hear”, or “Let there be among you a person who understands.” He’s declaring that many of the people living in this place are not as they appear; they lack something that you have. They lack that inner light, so they’re not even capable of perceiving the words he’s saying.
50. Jesus said, “If they say to you, ‘Where have you come from?’ say to them, ‘We have come from the light, from the place where the light came into being by itself, established [itself], and appeared in their image.’ If they say to you, ‘Is it you?’ say, ‘We are its children, and we are the chosen of the living Father.’ If they ask you, ‘What is the evidence of your Father in you?’ say to them, ‘It is motion and rest.'”
[ Note: The divine children come from somewhere else and don’t belong here. ]
“19. Jesus said, “Congratulations to the one who came into being before coming into being.”
[ Note: The divine children existed before they were born and can never die. ]
23. Jesus said, “I shall choose you, one from a thousand and two from ten thousand, and they will stand as a single one.”
[ Note: Most living on this Earth are not divine children. They are extremely rare. When they return to the Light, they share the infinite mind of God. ]
107. Jesus said, “The (Father’s) kingdom is like a shepherd who had a hundred sheep. One of them, the largest, went astray. He left the ninety-nine and looked for the one until he found it. After he had toiled, he said to the sheep, ‘I love you more than the ninety-nine.'”
Not all the people living in this place existed before their birth; most did not. To the gnostics, the majority of humanity are soulless, consisting simply of their body; these beings were called “hylics”. To the Gnostics, hylics were human beings that are purely physical machinations, governed solely by sense impressions and material wants and desires. There wasn’t much hope for them beyond this life, though if they really strived, a soul may awaken within them. Overall though, since they had no higher essence within them, death was their annihilation.
There are other classes of beings as well. For example, the Gnostics believed there are many who are possessed by the deceptive fallen entities. These beings live among us, appearing as humans, and they have turned their backs to the Light. These beings are immortal, but they have an inferior destiny awaiting them. Their chief leader is the demiurge, a powerful albeit very flawed divine being who is the creator of the material world. This demiurge further created beings called “archons” (or the “governors”) who are in charge of physical reality, one of their primary jobs being to enslave the divine children within physicality. These archons exist both within and outside this “fake” world we live in.
A final class of beings were called “psychic”. Apparently all matter is divine, even in this carcass of a world, and all matter has a tendency to gravitate toward awareness of the ultimate; all matter is conscious to a degree with a desire to reconnect with the Light and the Infinite/Ultimate. So say we have a simple spirit of a lobster or something. It may reincarnate and reincarnate and reincarnate, slowly becoming more and more self-aware, until finally incarnating into a human being. It has no awareness of anything beyond this physical world, at least not yet. However, it does have a chance to awaken during its life/lives as a human, realizing that it’s part of something large. They too will have a chance to enter the Light. They only have to awaken, and upon death, desire to be with God and the Light.
29. Jesus said, “If the flesh came into being because of spirit, that is a marvel, but if spirit came into being because of the body, that is a marvel of marvels. Yet I marvel at how this great wealth has come to dwell in this poverty.”
As for the deceptive entities in this world, who Jesus refers to as the “governors”, they are somehow feeding off the divine children and the “psychics” (lower spirits), exploiting them in some way by being here. In some respect, these enslaved spirits are akin to farm animals. Jesus specifically says the otherworldly entities feed on their carcasses (something having to do misery, sacrifice, and having taken on a physical form). The governors feed off of some energy given off by the spirits when they suffer, or are in say in an animal body and are sacrificed. That’s apparently why ancient religions were filled with human and animal sacrifice. These otherworldly entities somehow received sustenance from that act. But anyway, the Gnostic Jesus and his disciples warned that if you continue living in this place, you are a carcass which strange entities are feeding upon. When you choose to live in a physical body in this place, you are choosing death. These entities can only exploit you when you willingly choose to live here in a physical body.
60. He saw a Samaritan carrying a lamb and going to Judea. He said to his disciples, “that person … around the lamb.” They said to him, “So that he may kill it and eat it.” He said to them, “He will not eat it while it is alive, but only after he has killed it and it has become a carcass.”
They said, “Otherwise he can’t do it.”
He said to them, “So also with you, seek for yourselves a place for rest, or you might become a carcass and be eaten.”
This Jesus taught that the only way to find the Father was to abstain from the world. You must silence your mind so that you can attune to this inner light within, and use it to connect back with the Father, the source. He taught that this world was a dead carcass, and anyone who loves it will be forced to suffer by reincarnating in this poverty, over and over and over, until you give it up. When you die, your spirit will be released from your body, but because you do not understand the Father and have not connected with the divine Light, you won’t know what to do, or you’ll be drawn back to this place by various desires. In other words, you live in this poverty because you are this poverty. You desire it, but you must rid yourself of desire for this place.
Jesus said, “If you do not fast from the world, you will not find the (Father’s) kingdom.”
56. Jesus said, “Whoever has come to know the world has discovered a carcass, and whoever has discovered a carcass, of that person the world is not worthy.”
87. Jesus said, “How miserable is the body that depends on a body, and how miserable is the soul that depends on these two.”
This Jesus taught that elites hold this knowledge back from the divine children, because they benefit from exploiting them here.
39. Jesus said, “The Pharisees and the scholars have taken the keys of knowledge and have hidden them. They have not entered nor have they allowed those who want to enter to do so.”
This Jesus taught that it’s alright to ridicule God, it’s even fine to ridicule the divine incarnation of Jesus, a son of God, but if you ridicule the Holy Spirit, your own personal inner connection to the divine Light, there’s no hope for you. You’ll never find your way out of this place, and you’re stuck to live in this carcass and be fed upon.
44. Jesus said, “Whoever blasphemes against the Father will be forgiven, and whoever blasphemes against the son will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the holy spirit will not be forgiven, either on earth or in heaven.”
So how will you know that you’ve found the divine Light? If you think you’ve found the “truth” and you suffer in any way, are unhappy in any way, or are lacking in any way, you’ve found nothing at all. Continue your search.
67. Jesus said, “Those who know all, but are lacking in themselves, are utterly lacking.”
He taught not look to anything external for salvation. It’s only when you’ve reconnected with your divine nature and can manifest all your heart’s desires and lack nothing, then you’ve found where you belong. If you don’t have this connection, you’re as good as dead. That’s the same reason he warned against the dangers of charity.
70. Jesus said, “If you bring forth what is within you, what you have will save you. If you do not have that within you, what you do not have within you [will] kill you.”
And when you do start to realize your inner potential, and can begin to change your destiny, and your course through this life, even if you manifest great wealth, power, or prestige, he taught to renounce it all. It’s a giant pile of dung. It’s not worthy of your time; this is especially true considering if you die and are filled with desires of this kind, it will draw you back to this place, and you will again take on a new carcass of flesh, and suffer and be fed upon.
110. Jesus said, “Let one who has found the world, and has become wealthy, renounce the world.”
112. Jesus said, “Damn the flesh that depends on the soul. Damn the soul that depends on the flesh.”
Damn the flesh that depends on the soul, meaning damn anyone who continues to manifest this physical reality using their divine powers, and damn any soul which desires this kind of reality. It is evil and to be cast into the fire. The Father (God) wants to burn up this realm, torch it, and burn it to the ground, but divine children are in here. Get out so the Father can set it ablaze!
10. Jesus said, “I have cast fire upon the world, and look, I’m guarding it until it blazes.”
11. Jesus said, “This heaven will pass away, and the one above it will pass away.”
If you can believe this Jesus, we can’t blame God for this screwed up reality. The Father had nothing to do with this place and wants to torch it. It’s the divine children choosing to stay here that keeps it in existence, and some deceptive beings are struggling to keep them here. They keep them here by making them believe there’s nothing more, holding the truth from them, and deception. They want them to focus on this reality, the carcass, and believe that it’s all they can know and that it’s all that exists. The deceptive “governors” want all divine beings to believe that when you die, it’s the end. This is all, according to the disciple Philip, to keep the divine children in filthy garments (physical bodies), and surround them with everything that is vile, enslave them, and feed off of them in some way (this feeding somehow being related to misery and sacrifice).
The rulers (archons) wanted to deceive man, since they saw that he had a kinship with those that are truly good. They took the name of those that are good and gave it to those that are not good, so that through the names they might deceive him and bind them to those that are not good. And afterward, what a favor they do for them! They make them be removed from those that are not good and place them among those that are good. These things they knew, for they wanted to take the free man and make him a slave to them forever.
These are powers which […] man, not wishing him to be saved, in order that they may […]. For if man is saved, there will not be any sacrifices […] and animals will not be offered to the powers. Indeed, the animals were the ones to whom they sacrificed. They were indeed offering them up alive, but when they offered them up, they died. As for man, they offered him up to God dead, and he lived.
– Gospel of Philip
I’d like to add a bit of things I’ve gathered from studying near death experiences, meditation, and out of body experiences. So you die, believing that will be the end; you can be an atheist, agnostic, religious person, whoever. You die, there is a separation from the physical body (meaning it’s no longer giving you sensory and other input), and you awaken, figuring out that you’re still alive; you may be surrounded by blackness, or maybe you’re hovering over your body, or maybe you’re manifesting all sorts of strange things with your random thoughts (another reason to learn to silence your mind), all of these situations are possible. As an aside, apparently you don’t have to die to enter this state. If you say enter a sensory deprivation chamber and clear your mind, or enter deep states of meditation, you will enter this same state of being which we typically refer to as “death”. You just have to shift your focus of conscious attention away from the physical body and direct it inward. That’s a bit of a tangent. Either way, you’re dead and it’s not the end! What do you do! Where are you? What is this place? Why are you alive? And as you’re waking up on the astral planes, disoriented, these deceptive beings swoop in on you. They want to get you fast, before you can figure out where you are or what’s going on. So here’s what I’ve been able to gather: The deceptive ones create a fake tunnel of light, beam intense love emotion at you, shape-shift into your loved ones, religious deities, etc., and quickly approach you. Then you think, ah, I’ve heard about the tunnel of light! This must take me to heaven! Oh, there’s mom and grandma! They’re here to get me! From what I’ve researched, these people are not who they appear to be.
Once you get there, the “governors” pretend to be religious teachers, angels, spiritual masters, and ascended ones. Here they are, ready to help! But this is only the beginning of their crafty deception. Their one and only goal is to get you to AGREE to take on another physical reincarnation, either to return to your existing body, or for you to take on a new body. They will use every trick in the book to convince you to willingly do so. They’ll try guilt, especially if you believed in the concept of “sin”; they’ll tell you need to work off some bad karma, learn from your mistakes, that sort of thing. Did you have drinking problems? Well you need to experience that pain first hand in another life. Your spouse will be an alcoholic, and you’ll have to try to help him or her through their addiction. This will help you to learn better! Or they’re going to attempt to convince you that you’re needed by your children, your husband, your wife, etc., and that you can make their lives so much better! You must be there for them! Or if you’re a thinking person, they’ll make living here on Earth out to be some deep spiritual journey. Oh, this last life you were a rather balanced person, but in this next life, we’re going to give you a body that is far less emotional and far higher in intelligence, and by living in this new body, you will learn the importance of emotion and how intelligence isn’t everything. Or vice versa, you’ll be very intuitive and emotional, but lack intelligence. Heck, they’ll try to sign you up for a plan to try out both, a full blown reincarnational cycle, and then you can compare the two! Think of that! This next life you can be rich, or poor, or some average middle class person. You can explore different ways of exerting power over others, from all sides. You can be a woman this time, or a man, and this time be beautiful or very ugly looking, and you’ll see first hand how people treat you and how important unconditional love is, how greed is bad, how there are positive aspects to everything, why we should share, etc. Blah blah blah. It’s all a deception.
Here’s Philip talking about the “governors” swooping down on you at death. How do you escape the great powers? Do not fear the body’s desires or love them. You have to be above every desire and fear, and resist the great powers who come after you while you try to escape. But if you choose to reincarnate, you remain dead, and your corpse will be eaten.
He who comes out of the world, and so can no longer be detained on the grounds that he was in the world, evidently is above the desire of the […] and fear. He is master over […]. He is superior to envy. If […] comes, they seize him and throttle him. And how will this one be able to escape the great […] powers? How will he be able to […]? There are some who say, “We are faithful” in order that […] the unclean spirits and the demons. For if they had the Holy Spirit, no unclean spirit would cleave to them. Fear not the flesh nor love it. If you fear it, it will gain mastery over you. If you love it, it will swallow and paralyze you.
This world is a corpse-eater. All the things eaten in it themselves die also. Truth is a life-eater. Therefore no one nourished by truth will die. It was from that place that Jesus came and brought food. To those who so desired, he gave life, that they might not die.
– Gospel of Philip
Jesus taught to never do anything you hate, and that physicality has nothing to teach you. You’re not lacking in any way. There’s no purpose for you being here. There’s no spiritual “progress” to be found here. If you get out of this physical realm, don’t worry about your children, your husband, your wife, the fate of the Earth, just get out of here. When you reunite with the infinite, everything is there, including your family. Lacking anything is an illusion. These “governors” are liars. Do not take on another physical reincarnation, under any circumstances, and do not let them convince you to come back. Return to the divine clear Light. Return the Father. Return to the true, perfect realms of unconditional love, beauty, and joy, where all is available to you.
This all makes me think of an episode of Star Trek I saw a long time ago. In that episode Captain Janeway had a near death experience and these “governors” tried to appear to her as her father, and tried to convince her to enter some matrix. When she refused, the “governor” got mad, and told her that one day she would enter it, and that when she did, “they” would feed on her for a long, long time. Watch this clip.
Notice Janeway says, “I’d rather remain here in spirit”, meaning she’s not physical at this point. Then the Archon says to her, “The longer you stay here, the more difficult this process becomes.” That’s because if you leave the physical behind, the longer you’re away from it, your emotional attachment to this place and the events that took place in your previous life/lives wanes, and you successfully leave it all behind. They have to work fast. I imagine that Nag Hammadi Jesus would tell you to step up in their face and tell them, “We can stand here all day, but I’ll never go with you!”
As I’ve stated, these “governors” are deceptive. When you read near death accounts, many folks die on the operating table, or in a car crash, or however, they’re sucked up into this “divine” light (not the true clear light, but a lesser light created by the “governors”), and they meet some being who they believe to be God, Jesus, the angels, some loved one, whoever. These folks want to stay in this wonderful place, but they’re told it is “not their time.” They’re told there is some “purpose” they need to fulfill and they must “go back.” Every time. And you know what? All these people come back, and twenty or even thirty years later, these folks are still wondering, “What was this purpose these divine beings spoke of? I’ve never found it.” That’s because there isn’t one. The divine children do not belong here; the infinite Father does not want you here.
In The Dialogue of the Savior, Jesus spoke of what happens when you die; he said to avoid the deceptions of the “governors”, be wary of the things you create on this astral plane because your thoughts and fears manifest, and pass by all of it. Return to the Father and the clear Light. It’s unfortunate that a great deal of the text is missing.
“I will teach you. When the time of dissolution arrives, the first power of darkness will come upon you. Do not be afraid and say “Behold! The time has come!” But when you see a single staff … (3 lines indecipherable) … understand […] the work […] and the governors […] come upon you […]. Truly, fear is the power […]. So if you are going to be afraid of what is about to come upon you, it will engulf you. For there is not one among them who will spare you or show you mercy. But in this way, look at the […] in it, since you have mastered every word on earth. It […] take you up to the […] place where there is no rule […] tyrant. When you […] you will see those who […] and also […] tell you […] the reasoning power […] reasoning power […] place of truth […] but […]. But you […] truth, this […] living […] and your joy […]. So […] in order that […] your souls […] lest it […] the word […] raise… (3 lines indecipherable) … For the crossing place is fearful before you. But you, with a single mind, pass it by! For its depth is great; its height is enormous […] single mind […] and the fire […] […] all the powers […] you, they […] and the powers […] they […][…] soul […] […] in everyone […] you are the […] and […] forget […] son […] and you […][…].”
He’s trying to tell you to get to the clear light, where there are no more tyrants and evil rulers, and it’s a place of truth, life, and joy. Whether strange beings approach you and threaten you, or you create scary things from your own imagination, do not fear them; resist and pass by them. You’re in a realm where nothing can be done to you except by agreement, so don’t agree to things they tell you. Make your way to the clear light that the Tibetan Book of the Dead talks about. Delve deeper and deeper within, and let the light shine brighter and clearer. Never agree to reincarnate and take on a physical form.
Matthew said, “Lord, I want to see that place of life, [the place] where there is no wickedness, but rather, there is pure light!”
The Lord said, “Brother Matthew, you will not be able to see it as long as you are carrying flesh around.”
Matthew said, “Lord, even if I will not be able to see it, let me know it!”
The Lord said, “Everyone who has known himself has seen it in everything given to him to do, […] and has come to […] it in his goodness.”
Judas said to Matthew, “We want to understand the sort of garments we are to be clothed with when we depart the decay of the flesh.”
The Lord said, “The governors and the administrators possess garments granted only for a time, which do not last. But you, as children of truth, not with these transitory garments are you to clothe ourselves. Rather, I say to you that you will become blessed when you strip yourselves! For it is no great thing […] outside.”
If you’re a divine child, you’re immortal and will never die. You can’t be harmed and you’ll never run out of energy, but these … things … can feed off your sacrifices and misery which happens while in your physical “carcass”, at least so as long as you agree to live in this place. It is time for you to rest. There’s no need for you to work jobs you hate, live in bodies which decay, or continue to suffer. It’s time to rest and enjoy the things we’ve always been entitled to.
The Savior said to his disciples, “Already the time has come, brothers, for us to abandon our labor and stand at rest. For whoever stands at rest will rest forever.”
This Jesus is quite different from the one you hear about in the Bible. It’s all quite interesting.
